Bought boat from Sean Mulligan after a replacement of the centerboard case. Ballast was changed to lead. New sails CCCCrisp!. Also new mast and boom. I replaced the standing rigging and will install reef hardware and topping lift, outhaul etc as the season progresses. Kinda jury rigged to get the boat underway. Easily driven hull esp. with new suit.
Will have mooring at Woodward Reservoir this summer. Joined Potter Yachters and will sail several of our outings. High water in reservoirs this summer, Don Pedro, Huntington, Tahoe maybe.
Previous owner suggested joining The Potter Yachters as they have scheduled events. I did just that and it was good advice. I've sailed more than I ever did i the past. Having a great boat does help. In 2017/2018 we sailed Monterey Bay 4 times San Francisco Bay for a week,Tomales Bay, several trips on the Delta, Lake Pleasant Arizona as well as my "home port" at Woodward Reservoir in Stanislaus County where Ol'44 spends 3months on a mooring. All told I rigged and sailed around 70 times in 2018.
This is a great boat, fast and responsive. Forgiving and able. I just wish the accommodations were better for 2 because I really want my wife to be more involved. May have to trade for an Oday 192, more room.
Earl Scheib painted from sheer to waterline for 600.00. They did a nice job, 2 part epoxy that has held up well. Looking forward to the start of the 2019 season with 3 events in April.
See you on the water!
