This short sprit is 29" long overall but only extends 6" out from the bow. This provides enough clearance to stow my 12# Delta anchor on the roller without danger of nicking the topsides. It is made from 1” thick Cumaru, also known as “Brazilian Teak.”
I made an epoxy casting to act as a countoured spacer to bridge the slight gap at the edges of the sprit caused by the contour of the deck. When making the casting, I used masking tape and lots of Vaseline as a release agent. When cured, I sanded the spacer for a good fit and painted the edges black to match the toe rail.
