John and Jana Gonzales and their children, ages 9 and 11 sail Mission Bay or nearby San Diego Harbor in Southern California. After much study, they special ordered their M-15 and feel one of the best things about new is the ability to personalize and order custom options:
Dark blue gelcoat hull with white deck, oval ports with matching stainless steel horn cleats at the bow, stern and midships. Mainsail with full length top batten, custom color cabin cushions and lots of cam cleats.
For the benefit of those visitors who are not aware, everything else you see in the photos is standard equipment from Montgomery Boats including the cockpit lockers, all that beautiful Teak, mainsail slugs, retracting 4-stroke motor mount, fabric cabin cushions, tilt up rudder, swim ladder and more.
It's an amazing comparison to see the size of the M-15 cabin along side other craft which attempt to compare. Without the mast compression post and the keel housing found in most of the other mini cruisers, this interior is actually useable to sit in and is roomy enough to overnight for sleeping. It's easy to see why lots of sailors feel the M-15 is the best gunkholing, overnight capable mini-cruisers that money can buy. No... you can not pull her on the beach without digging a trench. But, she only needs a slight 15" of water to float. A small compromise when you've test sailed the M-15 and studied her seaworthy, solid sailing qualities, her stability at rest and under sail and of course her salty big ship appearance.
