This easily removeable sprit gets the tack of the drifter out in front of the bow and allows the use of two drifters for the ultimate wing and wing. It utilizes the anchor roller retaining pin and two Faspins to lock it in place. A Dyneema bobstay clips to the bow eye for stability. I made the sprit from 1" thick walled aluminum tubing into which I force-fit a length of 3/4" thick walled tubing. I then force-fit a hardwood dowel inside this. It is light and very stiff. Even if it does bend it would be no big deal since I didn't spend much money on it. I do think it is strong enough; Monita is, after all, only a 17' boat.
This sprit is 45" long over all, extending 25" past the anchor roller pin, 29" past the end of the wood bowsprit, and 35" past the bow itself.
I wrapped it with electrical tape to make it look more finished and put a black crutch tip on the butt end. The boxing glove on the other end is partly for decoration and partly to minimize any collision damage. 😉
