The Problem: Nowhere to stand to hoist and reef sails without leaving the cockpit.
The Solution: The Plank.
Because of the depth of the cabin sole and the wide space between the cabin berths, there's no convenient footing to approach the mast.
Built by Poppy's original owner, The Plank is a walnut board 12" wide with retainer cleats on the bottom to suspend it between the lip of the hatchway and the edge of the Vberth, and provides an easy walkway to the mast.
Carpet stapled to the bottom makes it solid when sailing, but easily movable for cabin access.
The Plank also doubles as a workbench, dining table, and a covenient place for crew to sit out of wind and weather underway.
