DillyDilly came to me with a long shaft Honda 2.3 hp. that sat too high on the fixed mount. I bought a long shaft Tohatsu SailPro but it also sat too high so the mount needed to be replaced.
Access to the transom was achieved by adding a 4" deck plate on the sidewall inside the stern locker. The transom is cored and about 1" thick. A 1/8" thick backing plate was used with 5/16" dia. bolts mounted inside facing out.
I couldn't reach to start the bolt into the outside upper hole so a string was fed through the hole from the outside and glued to the end of the bolt. I then carefully pulled the string to lift the bolt and pop it through the hole.
